Youth Ministry
The value of ministering to our middle school and high school students can not be
emphasized enough. They are important. The youth are not only the future of our
church and our world, but they are already called to be leaders, starting now! (1
Timothy 4:12)

ENGAGE is the name of Whitten Baptist Church's youth ministry, it is more than just
a name though. We want to reach our youth by reaching out and engaging our friends,
classmates and the community we live in, in essence...our mission field...by providing
a place for fellowship through meeting together and fun activities, camps and mission
projects. We want to encourage and equip our youth in using their gifts and talents
for Christ and we have ministries in place now such as....praise team, drama team,
artist of the month, cafe and many more soon to come to do that. Our thoughts are,
we are given talents and gifts to bring glory to God and our youth need to have
the opportunity to do that.
We meet on Sunday mornings at 9am for a time of Bible
study, we get into the Word and seek instruction and guidance from God on how to
live our lives in line with His will. We have a middle school boys, middle school
girls and high school group at 9 am every Sunday morning.
On Wednesday night at
5:30pm our Youth House opens for a time of fellowship and games and also some snacks
from our "Fresh House". Then at 6:30pm we start with worship from our ENGAGE praise
band and then it's time for a message relevant to youth and today's situations they
are confronted with.
Our main objective is to glorify Christ, serve Him and lead
others to Him....

Rods of God - Interpretive Movement Arts
What do dowel rods and worship skills have in common? An elegant and graceful expression
of worship! A team of children, youth and adults use these sticks to interpret sacred
music and scripture at Whitten Baptist Church. The dowel rods move in unison
to the shapes of fish, birds, bursts of light and the powerful sign of the cross.
The compositions range from the telling of the creation story, liturgical dance
and contemporary praise music.
The Rods of God program has become a wonderful worship vehicle that is all about
praising God in fellowship and fun.
Rods of God meet every Sunday at 5:00 pm |
